    2006 Student Mock Election

NATIONAL STUDENT/PARENT MOCK ELECTION 2006

The League of Women Voters has developed a statewide effort to involve Maryland's students in the democratic process by encouraging local schools to participate in a mock election. Now, more than ever, in this Age of Communication, it is our responsibility to educate our youth on the importance of voting. Children learn by example.

The League of Women Voters has been sponsoring an election in the schools since 1998. This year as in 2004 we are participating in The National Student/Parent Mock Election. www.nationalmockelection.org

The League of Women Voters of Kent County provides an online Voters Guide available on its website. The address is http://www.kent.lwvmd.org.

The date of the Mock Election is November 2, 2006. A ballot for the candidates, listed in the table below, will be sent so all the children can vote in the AM in whatever class is first that day. The votes will be counted. When collected and tallied the table below will be updated and will be available on this website of the League of Women Voter Kent County. http://www.kent.lwvmd.org.
